The AMT Legacy Award

“A person’s legacy at AMT can best be described by the memories and standards one leaves to others; the images that come to mind when a person’s name is spoken.

How wonderful to have a legacy so linked to the idea of success, integrity, honesty, and the freedom to always do the right thing, especially when nobody is watching.

Its originality and striking beauty should inspire us all to constantly revisit the achievement of Legacy award winners. It’s the highest honor that can be bestowed on any member of the AlwaysMountainTime team.” -Pete Benedetti, CEO

We have honored 2 AlwaysMountainTime team members into the inaugural class of the AMT Legacy Awards. These 2 team members go above and beyond their “job descriptions” and are in a class of their own. Meet them below.

Axel Contreras – Program Director, La Nueva Mix-Glenwood Springs

Axel Contreras

Axel Contreras

“Axel,

It’s often said that a radio station takes on the personality of its Program Director.  Which is exactly why we have so many great radio stations. But in this case, it goes way above and beyond the boundaries of “program director.”  Not only are you the program director, you’re the heartbeat, soul and command center of La Nueva mix. Literally, the mouthpiece for an entire community. You do a whole list of things above and beyond the call of duty. You’re part DJ, part entertainer, part newscaster, part engineer, part translator, part therapist, part sales person, part politician, part social chairman – and the list goes on and on…But, really when its all said and done, you’re literally a human bulletin board for your audience and the entire spanish speaking community in the Colorado mountains. Unlike many radio personalities, your audience relies on you, pays attention to you and, most importantly, trusts you. The same qualities that make you a great Program Director  – consistency, focus, experience, passion, talent, being brilliant at the fundamentals, integrity, ethics, and performance are all things that make KQSE a great radio station and all outstanding qualities that made it a pleasure to congratulate you as a Co-inductee into our inaugural class of AMT Legacy Award Winners. Its very much deserved, and I’m very proud to be on your team, Axel.”

“Terri,

I’m not sure I have ever worked with someone as committed, knowledgable and dedicated to her duties. You are the epitome of someone who is dependable, reliable, trustworthy, and, possibly most importantly, “knows where all the bodies are buried.” You do whatever it takes to get the job done and don’t give up until it is done. I’m not sure I could have ever untangled the web or made sense of these stations, the history, and the company without your help and support. Yet, you’re always honorable, ethical, non-judgemental of others and careful not to bad mouth anyone or assign “blame.” But instead, help look for solutions. Your spirit and caring-attitude is genuine and contagious. Your title may say “traffic director” but it probably should say something like “chief den mother” or “chief shoulder to cry on” or “the glue that holds us all together” as your nurturing influence guides your daily interactions with the stations and your co-workers. You always go above and beyond the job description, correcting mistakes to make others look good and protecting the company in the process. Finally, thanks to you the birthdays in this company are literally second to none! Congratulations on being one of only two inaugural inductees into the exclusive club of Legacy Award Winners. You are simply the best, Terri.”
