The Granby Police Department has partnered with Project Childsafe to offer the community free firearm safety kits and promote firearm safety education.
Project Childsafe, a program by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, partners with law enforcement agencies to promote firearm safety materials.
Each safety kit includes a gun lock and educational materials, which anyone can pick up from the Granby Police Department between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Friday. The gun lock fits most handguns, shotguns and rifles.
“We encourage residents to pick up a Project ChildSafe safety kit so that they can securely store their firearm,” said Sgt. Amy Ryan-Williams of Granby PD. “The goal is to prevent a child or any other unauthorized person from accessing a firearm in your home.”
So far, Project Childsafe has distributed over 38 million firearm safety kits in all 50 states and five U.S. territories.
