Weekend storm brings over two feet of fresh snow to Winter Park Resort

With almost nonstop snow over Winter Park Resort the past few days, resort officials reported getting over two feet of fresh powder on the mountain.

In a Sunday morning announcement, the resort said its storm total for the past two days is a hefty 28 inches of new snow, bringing the season total to 114 inches.

According to OpenSnow.com, that brings the resort to 164% of average snowpack for the season.

In anticipation of ideal conditions, the resort debuted its $6 million Sunnyside Lift in the Mary Jane territory on Thursday and opened parts of Vasquez territory Friday.

In all, the resort currently has 21 lifts running, 107 trails open and an over 50 inch base.

OpenSnow.com is predicting slightly more snowfall with the chance for an inch on both Sunday and Monday.

Other parts of Grand County also received a new blanket of white, with Ski Granby Ranch reporting a total of six inches during the storm and roughly eight inches in Rocky Mountain National Park, according to a SNOTEL site at Bear Lake.

One county over, Summit’s ski areas also seemed to be big beneficiaries of this weekend’s storm.
