Last fall, 39-year-old Frisco local Christy Tryder was diagnosed with breast cancer. Now she is undergoing radiation treatment and her supporters have banded together to throw a daylong benefit concert to help with medical expenses at 10 Mile Music Hall on Sunday.
“The benefit was conceived when a group of friends wanted to show her the love that Summit County has for their own,” said Jonny Greco, one of the main organizers of the event, in an email. “Christy has always been a giver, she will help in any way she can when a local is in need of a hand or when tragedy has struck our small county. Her battle has taken her back to New England and we hope to have her back in Frisco working at Greco’s Pastaria this summer.” According to Greco, Tryder will also be attending the event.
From 4-10 p.m., The Frisco Funk Collective, Shaky Hand String Band, Chris Bauer Trio, Beau Thomas, Zuma Road and others will perform.
Aside from a suggested donation at the door, there is no ticket purchase necessary. Each attendant will receive one complimentary raffle ticket. Additionally, there will be a silent auction that goes until 9 p.m. and wigs — which guests are encouraged to wear at the benefit — available for purchase.
More than 100 items have been donated to the raffle and auction, including ski and golf passes, a rafting trip, a snowboard, gift certificates and more. For those that can’t attend, there will be another opportunity to support Tryder by dining at participating restaurants on Thursday, June 6. Establishments like Greco’s Pastaria, The Raven Golf Club at Three Peaks Bar and Grill, Silverheels Bar & Grill, Prosit, 5th Ave Grill, The Uptown on Main, Angry James Brewing Company and others to be announced will donate 20% or more of sales to Tryder.
