Attorney General Phil Weiser has joined 43 other attorneys general in filing a lawsuit against some of the nation’s largest generic drug manufacturers.
The lawsuit alleges that Teva Pharmaceuticals, Sandoz, Mylan, Pfizer and 16 other manufacturers have been engaging in a multiyear conspiracy to fix prices and thwart competition for more than 100 generic drugs treating a number of conditions. The complaint also lists 15 senior executives at the heart of the alleged conspiracy.
“Access to quality, affordable health care is a top concern for Coloradans,” said Weiser. “Many struggle to pay for the prescription drugs they rely on to treat disease or maintain their health. The federal lawsuit we have joined lays out strong and convincing evidence how the generic drug industry created and enforced a culture of collusion to perpetrate a multibillion-dollar fraud on consumers.”
The complaint was filed in U.S. District Court and seeks damages, civil penalties and actions by the court to restore competition.
