CR 8 bridge replacement project in Fraser delayed

Construction on Fraser’s replacement of the bridge on County Road 8 has been delayed due to the height of the Fraser River.

It is unclear when crews will be able to start the work, but the town expects the project to be delayed at least a week. The contractor is currently in conversations to see when they can get back on schedule.

Originally, the project was scheduled to start on Thursday, but was delayed until Monday in the hopes that the river height would drop.

The project is expected to take around three months, during which time County Road 8 will be closed to through traffic from US Highway 40 to Waipiti Drive. Fraser is putting up detour information in the surrounding area to inform drivers.

The bridge, which has received a poor inspection rating from the state for at least the last 10 years, will be replaced as part of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s off-highway bridge replacement program.

Detour info

County Road 8 will be closed from US Highway 40 to Waipiti Drive for the duration of the project. Multiple detour signs and routes will go up this week to inform drivers.
The main detour route will utilize County Road 804 and its connection at Cranmer Avenue to help drivers navigate through the Meadow Ridge and Winter Park Ranch neighborhoods.

Lift changes
The Summer Lift line will not be servicing the Twin Rivers, Waipiti and Ermine, Lower Waipiti and Fox Run stops for the duration of the project.
