It’s a pretty special experience to have a facial followed by a “float.” Add in a massage, and you can create a full afternoon of wellness at Dream & Dreams Float Spa and Wax It Skin Studio, at 70 W. Benchmark Road in Avon.
These two wellness businesses have recently renovated the space to offer a full range of services, from float tanks and massage to waxing and skin care.
Dream & Dreams Float Spa co-founder Dimitar Minkov’s wellness journey started simply with practicing a healthy lifestyle. He heard about floating in 2013 and soon after experienced his first float session.
“Since then, floating has become a regular and important practice that helps me balance all aspects of my life,” Minkov said.
He and massage therapist Ivaylo Stoyanov recently opened up Dream & Dreams Float Spa.
“Ivaylo is a seasoned massage therapist who has worked at some of the best, high-end resort spas in the Vail Valley,” Minkov said. “He is extremely knowledgeable with extensive training experience here, in the United States as well as in Thailand.”
It was the cumulative positive effect that floating had on their bodies and minds that inspired the duo to open the float spa, Minkov said.
“It also came from the absence of options for this service in the Vail Valley,” he said. “We wanted to create a space where we, and our community, could experience this wonderful and healing treatment.”
Taking a ‘Shortcut’
Minkov said the float tank is a powerful tool that helps speed his recovery time from athletic endeavors.
“Aside from the sense of well-being I get from floating, afterward it provides me with excellent sleep and even allows me to take a ‘shortcut’ into deep meditation,” he said. “The ‘magic’ of floatation therapy lies in the sensory-deprived and free-from-gravity environment inside the tank.”
People float to improve their quality of life, he said.
“It helps to relieve stress, recover from injuries, enhance creativity, fight addiction, decrease anxiety and depression, eliminate chronic pain and so much more,” Minkov said. “Without the need to fight gravity or take in external information, you’ll likely experience the most complete relaxation you’ve ever felt.”
Minkov said sharing the space with Wax It Skin Studio started as a natural collaboration. Wax It offers waxing services, specialty eyebrow treatments including microblading, and customized, organic facials.
“This summer, we plan on offering a variety of health and wellness workshops in partnership with other local businesses in our community,” he said. “Our mission as a team is to enhance and elevate your overall state of well-being, mind, body and spirit alike. We believe a holistic and rounded approach will help to achieve the ultimate alchemy.”
