FRISCO — The 2019 Frisco-Copper Creek Mayor’s Cup for Building Hope is coming back to Summit County.
The town of Frisco, Copper Mountain Resort and Building Hope Summit County are partnering to bring the third annual golf tournament to the Copper Creek Golf Course on Sept. 9. The tournament serves as a fundraiser for Building Hope, a local nonprofit dedicated to improving access to care and support in Summit County’s mental health infrastructure. In 2018, the tournament raised more than $30,000 for the group.
The funds raised during the tournament will help to support Building Hope’s mental health care scholarships and mental health navigation programs, including providing financial assistance for individuals or families who can’t afford therapy and connecting people to community resources to assure they get the care they need.
Since launching in July, Building Hope’s scholarship program has helped to fund mental health services for almost 700 people, and the navigation program has helped connect almost 350 individuals to proper care since April 2018.
Registration for the tournament is $520 per team and will include a round of golf at Copper Creek Golf Course, carts, goodie bags, lunch and a post play barbecue and beer. The tournament is limited to 36 teams in a four-person scramble format and will begin at 8:30 a.m. with tee off at 9:30 a.m.
“This tournament has been remarkably well supported by the community and has proven to be a truly fun day,” Frisco director of marketing and communication Vanessa Agee said in a news release. “We only have two team spots left for Monday, and we really want to make this tournament a sellout. The weather forecast looks pretty amazing, so we encourage someone who wants to spend the whole day outside golfing under sunny skies for a great cause to register now.”
Teams and individuals also can choose to help sponsor the event by providing additional donations for prizes, or sponsoring tee boxes or holes on the course.
