Letter: Full-time security in schools would save taxpayers money

A little note about the fancy and costly brochure in my
mailbox from the East Grand School District: Now in my weak knowledge of our
situation, is it good for our district to spend this kind of money and burden
our taxpayers with extra millions when going this for may not be needed? Would
it not be a lot less costly, and maybe much better, to just simply hire some
full-time security people to protect our schools?

After all I cannot believe that our well staffed school teachers, principals and superintendent have the ability to full-time monitor our schools when full-time, well paid security people could do a much better job protecting our children. Perhaps those in the know just want us to be protected with millions of dollars worth of electronics. We need to consider the value of the human factor that apparently has been overlooked in my opinion, and I would bet the majority of taxpayers agree with me.

After all, even with the kind of taxpayers’ dollars that are involved here, even after a kind donation from BEST, it just simply appears that my recommendations stated in this letter would be much better for all concerned and for sure would be welcomed by the taxpayers.
