Letter to the editor: Why is the county giving tax dollars away to a high-priced firm?

Written in response to “Summit County, individual towns consider hiring lobbyist to advocate for I-70 improvements among other initiatives.”

Can’t Summit County leaders engage state and federal officials without contracting a high-priced firm? Why does the county need to engage this firm for these purposes?

I understand what the article said. This local person that works for this firm has extensive understanding of local issues that can be beneficial to the county’s needs in this pursuit, but come on.

The state already understands how economically crucial this county is. The state should work in concert with local officials in the county to lobby the feds if needed.

Please start operating the county as a business and treat our tax dollars with a little more respect.
