A serious car crash Friday night has closed US Highway 40 between Granby and Tabernash.
The crash at milepost 219 involved at least two vehicles. Both were off the side of the highway and appeared to have sustained heavy damage.
As a result of the crash, the highway was blocked in both directions with no timeframe for reopening.
At 11:30 p.m. Friday, the sheriff’s office said the closure was expected to remain in effect for at least the next few hours.
Because of the location of the closure, there is no detour around the wreck, except by going all the way around the crash via Highway 9 to Interstate 70.
This will report be updated when more details become available.
