With such intense interest surrounding the town’s trailside troll, Breckenridge is offering a community talk with the artist who created the roughly 15-foot wood sculpture today.

The artist talk with Thomas Dambo will be from 5-6:30 p.m. at Breckenridge Backstage Theatre, 121 S. Ridge St. Dambo is the one who built the larger-than-life wood troll for a summer arts festival last year.

Citing safety concerns after the troll brought more traffic than the town ever expected, officials decided to take the sculpture down last fall with plans to have Dambo return to rebuild a new version of the troll in a more appropriate location by the Stephen C. West Ice Arena this month.

With the work nearing completion, Dambo is set to offer an artist talk about the sculpture and his overarching mission of sustainability.

Because the town is working on creating a new trail specific to the troll, the public has been asked to remain patient until the trail is ready. The artist talk, however, offers a great opportunity for locals who’d like to know more about the artist and his troll.
