Authorities are investigating the deaths of two people whose
bodies were found Friday at Rocky Mountain National Park.
The park released a limited amount of information Friday night, saying that park rangers were notified of a suicidal person who was likely in the park and the individual’s vehicle was found near Upper Beaver Meadows Road.
While searching for the vehicle’s occupants, rangers briefly held up traffic entering the park on the east side for about an hour. During the search, rangers discovered the bodies of vehicle’s owner and another person.
Park rangers conducted an on scene investigation, and the two bodies were taken to the Larimer County Coroner’s Office for examination.
The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the names of the deceased after their families have been notified. The cause of death will be released after an autopsy.
Assisting park rangers during the incident were Estes Park and
Loveland police, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado Parks and
Wildlife.
