Agency on Agency honors Eagle County seniors Ogg, Kokish, for their tireless work

EAGLE COUNTY — A pair of Eagle County seniors were reently honored by the Alpine Area Agency on Aging.

The 30th annual Senior Awards, sponsored by the Northwest Colorado Council of Governments, recognized award recipients for their efforts to improve the lives of older adults.

From Eagle County, Lee Ogg and Alan Kokish were honored. Ogg was named Senior of the Year, and Kokish was honored as Friend of Seniors.

“Leo Ogg is always willing to volunteer his time to help progression of the El Jebel Health Aging program,” said Mandi Dicamillo, Healthy Aging Coordinator for Eagle County Public Health and Environment.

Leo is originally from India and has been volunteering since moving to Basalt, Dicamillo said.

“He assists with setting up the dining room, washing dishes, vacuuming, whatever needs to be done Leo gets the job done! Not only does Leo volunteer he also works a full time job at Sunburst Car Care,” Dicamillo said.

DiCamillo also had high praise for Kokish.

“Alan Kokish was voted Friend of the Seniors due to his delicious delivery of meals for the El Jebel nutrition site,” Dicamillo said. “Alan strives to provide seniors with fresh and nutritious meals while following guidelines and maintaining a budget. Alan also manages his own catering company that serves the valley, although his favorite is to cater to the seniors!”

During the event, Eagle, Garfield, Grand, Jackson, Pitkin, and Summit counties recognized each county’s Senior of the Year (recipient 60 or older) and Friend of the Seniors (recipient of any age.)
