The Colorado State Patrol has identified the two people who died in a crash on Trough Road southwest of Kremmling sometime before Friday morning as Toby J. Hargadine of Kremmling and Crysta L. Berntsen of Minturn.
According to a State Patrol press release, Hargadine was driving east toward Kremmling when he lost control of his truck and skidded off the left side of the road. The truck rolled numerous times down the cliff.
The Colorado State Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash, including the estimated time of the incident. The truck was discovered at around 7:44 a.m. Friday by a road and bridge worker.
Hargadine, 37, was found dead on the scene after being ejected about 300 feet from the vehicle and Berntsen, 26, was found dead still in her seat with the buckle fastened, according to Colorado State Trooper Gary Cutler.
The Toyota Tundra pickup landed about 705 feet from the road near mile post 9, according to Lt. Dan Mayer, a spokesperson for the Grand County Sheriff’s Office. Mayer estimated that the drop was around 70 or 80 degrees steep.
