Brian Nordby passed away peacefully, in his sleep, on November 6th after six weeks of hospital and rehabilitation center stay, battling and hoping for survival. He left behind many broken hearts of family and friends alike and will be deeply missed. He will forever be in the hearts of many, including his beloved four legged companion, Jasmine.
Brian was born in Mountain Lakes, Minnesota on April 24, 1957, to Marianne and Richard Nordby. As a child, he moved to Denver with his parents and sister, making Colorado his home.
Brian learned the trade and followed in his father’s footsteps to become a Master Plumber, after graduating from Arvada West High School. He achieved an excellent reputation, working in California, Hawaii and Colorado. Brian was known by many in the South Park area in the 1970’s, 80’s and 90’s, while he lived in Alma, Breckenridge and Fairplay. He lived a life filled with love, many friendships, adventures and travels. Brian eventually made New Castle his home, after meeting the love of his life, Carmen. He loved camping, fishing and relaxing with a cold Coors beer in his hand. His ideal day was ‘floating in a boat, on a lake’ and ‘watching the world go by’.
Brian was a fun loving man, with wit and great humor, always ready to play a trick, a devoted husband, the ultimate garage sales aficionado and loyal friend, overcoming many challenges from early on in his life. The passing of his father was the latest challenge that deeply affected Brian and his well-being.
Brian is preceded in death by his father, Richard and his mother, Marianne. He is survived by his wife Carmen Nordby of New Castle, Colorado, sister Lynn and husband Brad Alpiche of Hawaii, stepson Alex, wife Marina and their children James and Scarlett Stefanescu-Kim of Everett, Washington, sister-in-law Gabriela and husband George Lloyd of Glenwood Springs, as well as many dear friends he had the chance to see and spend cherished time with, during his battle, when many stories were told, laughter and tears abounding.
