EAGLE —Supporters will join together tonight to remember and honor an Eagle Valley High School senior who died Wednesday in a single-car crash.
A candlelight vigil for Megan Lodge will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, in Eagle’s Chambers Park, the visitors center at the Eagle I-70 interchange.
Eagle Valley High School and the school district opened the school Friday morning with counselors and others, to help students cope with the tragic loss.
Among her many high school activities, Lodge was a member of Eagle Valley’s speech team, and advanced to the national competition.
Earlier this month, Lodge was also a student director for Eagle Valley’s production of “Almost Maine.”
The 17-year old Lodge was the sole occupant of the Toyota 4Runner she was driving, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
What happened
At 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, Lodge was just east of Eagle, driving west on Interstate 70 in the Toyota 4Runner. The vehicle left the westbound lane, crossed the median into the eastbound lane, and rolled.
Lodge was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The investigation showed she was not wearing a seatbelt, Trooper Gary Cutler with the Colorado State Patrol said.
No other vehicles were involved, Cutler said.
The Colorado State Patrol is still investigating the accident.
