Traveling to Westminster Thursday night for a matchup with the Standley Lake Gators, the Glenwood Springs Demons hockey team dropped a 4-3 decision.
The Demons fell behind 3-0 late in the second period before Dylan Webster got Glenwood on the board with a powerplay goal with 2 seconds left in the period. Webster took a feed from Kelton McPherson and found the back of the net right before the intermission, making it a 3-1 game.
Glenwood made it a 3-2 game in the third period as Colter Strautman scored an even strength goal off of assists from Conner Powell and Jacob Fowler, but Standley Lake responded with a goal to make it 4-2.
The Demons added another goal midway through the period as Strautman scored his second of the game, this time off of an assist from Robbie Wier, but that would be it for scoring in the matchup, allowing the Gators to hold on for a 4-3 win.
In net for Glenwood, goaltender Hunter Hadsock stopped 27 of 31 shots.
Glenwood travels to Jorgensen Saturday for a matchup with Crested Butte at noon.
