I-70 closed due to rock slide

Interstate 70 in Glenwood Canyon is closed in both directions due to a rock slide. CDOT reported the rock slide to Twitter around 1 a.m. The closure is expected to take several hours. Alternative routes are advised.

There has been no release of information if any injuries occurred.

In a Twitter post, the Colorado State Patrol said crews will be evaluating safety at daylight. It suggests an alternative route of Highway 131 (Wolcott) to Highway 40 (Steamboat Springs) to Highway 13 (Rifle). “Do not use Cottonwood Pass,” the tweet say.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
