PREP ROUNDUP: Roaring Fork soccer falls to Delta, 7-3; Glenwood baseball drops 4-0 decision to Durango

Hosting the Delta Panthers Friday night in Carbondale for a pivotal 3A Western Slope League showdown, the Roaring Fork Rams girls soccer team dropped a tough 7-3 decision, giving up four first-half goals and three second-half goals in the loss.

Roaring Fork jumped out to a 1-0 lead on the Panthers as junior Emily Broadhurst tared the scoring for the Rams, but Delta roared back with four goals before halftime, giving Delta 4-1 lead.

The Panthers then scored two quick goals to start the second half before Roaring Fork attempted a rally. Macey Peery and Grace Jardine found the back of the net for the Rams in the second half, but Delta put a kibosh on the comeback attempt with a goal in stoppage time, capping off the 7-3 win.

The Rams (3-4, 1-2 in 3A WSL) return to action Tuesday against the Grand Valley Cardinals in Carbondale at 4 p.m.

BASEBALL

Durango 4, Glenwood Springs 0

Traveling to Durango Friday afternoon for a doubleheader with the Demons, the Glenwood Springs Demons dropped a 4-0 Game One decision, while results of the second game were unavailable at the time of press.

In the Game One loss, Glenwood recorded just one hit – a single by senior Chano Gonzalez – and saw just two batters total reach base as sophomore Garrett Dollahan walked in the loss.

On the mound in the Game One loss, junior Cole Houston worked four innings, allowing all four earned runs, while striking out six and walking six.

The loss drops Glenwood to 3-6 on the season. Glenwood returns to action Tuesday in a home doubleheader against Battle Mountain in a 4A Western Slope League matchup.
