Richard F. Hallett

Richard F. Hallett, 74, of New Castle, Co., passed away on November 8, 2018. He suffered a serious fall, which he was hospitalized for eight months.

Richard was born in Boston, Mass., to Roland F. Hallett and Anne Hallett. Richard was one yr. old when the family, along with his sister, Priscilla, moved to Santa Monica, California. He graduated from Santa Monica High School, where he played basketball and received a full scholarship to play at UC Santa Barbara.

He married his teenage sweetheart, Judy, to begin a life of business adventures together. He was a entrepreneur, always having ideas for new businesses and thinking years ahead. Never afraid to take the challenge. He started with the Sears Management program and went on to develop, “BUILD & GROW”, successful home improvement centers , the first in Irvine, California. He went into real estate and sold land to WalMarts, that were just coming into So. California. He loved starting and selling new businesses. Dunia Plaza, a 90 acre regional center, in Victorville, was one of his biggest achievements. Mobil Gas Stations in the High Desert, eight Cold Stone Creamery’s.

In 2000, he bought his dream ranch in the San Gabriel Mountains. He brought the first ZipLine to Los Angeles County and a wedding venue in the forest.

In 2017, Colorado was calling, he and Judy moved to New Castle, Colorado, to develop “Red Barn Guest Ranch”, for weddings and events.

He will be missed for his love of life, ideas never ending, big laugh, and his family. He leaves behind, his wife Judy, of 52 years, three daughters, Kimberly Boyer, Cindee Williams and Ashley Jackson, son- in -laws, Lance Boyer,Todd Williams, Jim Jackson, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His sister, Priscilla and brother-in – law, Barry Clement. A memorial service is planned on June 1, 2019 at the Red Barn Guest Ranch. Announcement will be made later.
