After joining the college in the midst of its 50th Anniversary two years ago, Colorado Mountain College Rifle campus dean and vice president Carole Boughton will be leaving, the college announced on Monday.
Boughton is planning to return home to Wyoming to work with CIG Wyoming, according to a CMC press release.
“Carole Boughton has been a valuable member of the CMC team since her arrival in June of 2017,” said Carrie Besnette Hauser, president and CEO of the college. “Her commitment to the Rifle campus and western Garfield County was evident from her very first day at CMC. I am most appreciative of her service to the college and wish her well in her return to Wyoming.”
Boughton joined CMC after working for various Wyoming community colleges, including serving as director of the Center for Workforce and Community Development for the Northern Wyoming Community College district in Gillette. She earned her master’s degree from the University of Wyoming.
“CMC is a unique institution with an exceptional team,” Boughton said. “I am especially proud of our students who come from all backgrounds and succeed at the Rifle Campus thanks to our talented faculty and staff. I will treasure my memories and everyone who I have met.”
Hauser has named Tinker Duclo, assistant dean of Student Affairs at the Rifle Campus, as acting vice president and dean effective Feb. 1.
Duclo has held numerous positions with CMC, including working as an adjunct professor of English, sustainability studies and developmental education at the Rifle and Glenwood Springs campuses.
“I am honored to be asked to fill in as acting campus dean and am grateful to Carole for her leadership,” she said. “I look forward to working with my campus and college-wide colleagues on issues of importance to our students and community and to ensure a smooth transition.”
Duclo has lived in western Garfield County, both Silt and New Castle, since 2006 and holds a master’s degree in humanities from the University of Colorado Denver Bachelor of Arts degrees in psychology and biology from CU Boulder.
She played Division I women’s basketball at CU, as well.
