HOTCHKISS — It wasn’t a Renoir, but it will do.
Vail Christian boys basketball got out of Hotchkiss with a 69-58 win, its fifth in a row.
As always, you take road wins in the 2A Slope and forget about the Russian judge’s scores for artistic merit.
The Bulldogs’ Jacob Stucker, all 7 feet of him, gave the Saints some problems. Vail Christian adjusted by putting Zach McKeever on him.
Speaking of McKeever, he had an above average game with 22 points and 18 rebounds. Put up numbers like that, and you don’t have to walk home from Hotchkiss. In fact, he might have gotten his choice of seat on the bus home.
Tommy O’Neil had a big night as well with eight points and 11 boards. Alec Mortiz went off for 19 points, and the Saints moved to 7-4 overall and 4-0 in the 2A Slope.
