UK All Time Low fans look to be in for a treat.
In the current issue of Rock Sound we caught up with All Time Low frontman Alex Gaskarth to talk about what the band have coming up, and their plans for their only live appearance for 2019 at Slam Dunk.
Speaking about how to follow up their appearance in the UK last year where they headlined Alexandra Palace and played ‘So Wrong It’s Right’ in full, Alex shared “In terms of what we’ve got lined up for the show, when we knew that we were doing this, we had a few preliminary conversations about how to make it special, what we could bring to the table. Some of that has to do with the fact that last time we were there in the UK, we were doing our own headlining shows at Alexandra Palace and some of the arenas, so we had these big video walls, pyro, and it’s like… where do you go from there? How do you sidestep that and put on an incredible, entertaining show for people?”
They have a plan, though “One of the big things we’ve been talking about is making the set as diverse as we possibly can for people, playing some stuff that we haven’t played in a while, paying tribute to the 10th year of ‘Nothing Personal’, and making sure that there’s something in there for everyone. And we want to do it all through the lens of what this festival represents, which for us is kind of our roots. We want to make sure that it’s a rock show, at the end of the day.”
And as for who else on the line-up he’s excited to catch up with? “We have a lot of friends playing again, so it’ll be exciting to catch people we’ve toured with before, like Waterparks for example. But at the same time there are a lot of older bands on there, some of the bands that I grew up listening to are on the bill, and I’m really excited to see them.”
All Time Low’s only scheduled performances for 2019 are for Slam Dunk. Slam Dunk 2019 will take place on May 25 in Leeds and May 26 in Hatfield, with tickets available here.
