Guitar maker Fender have announced the launch of a new charity entitled the Fender Play Foundation.
Aimed at providing music education and resources for youth projects, the company have announced a series of artist ambassadors for the charity including Panic! At The Disco‘s Brendon Urie, Fall Out Boy‘s Pete Wentz and Green Day‘s Mike Dirnt.
They, along with fellow ambassadors Avril Lavigne, Chris Stapleton and Ashley McBryde, will participate in foundation initivatives through 2019 and 2020 including “surprise instrument drops and meet and greets, donating signed gear and memorabilia for auction, appearing at galas and helping guide the foundation’s overall direction”.

Speaking of the project, Brendon Urie said “I’m excited to team up with the Fender Play Foundation to support the next generation of shredders. Growing up in Vegas my music mentors and education were such a huge influence on my life, I hope through partnering with Fender, that I can help do the same for young musicians!”
The charity aims to raise $3m over the next three years for educational institutions and organisations. Fender will donate $1 million initially with support for music education programs beginning across Los Angeles, Nashville and Scottsdale with plans to expand to more cities and programs next year. Fender will also donate to the artists’ various affiliate charities, including the Boys & Girls Club-affiliated non-profit Notes for Notes. Get more info on the foundation here.
