Rapper Rich the Kid and his entourage were involved in a shooting and robbery at a Los Angeles studio where Usher was recording Tuesday afternoon, Variety reports.
According to reports, Rich the Kid and his entourage were the targets of the robbery, which took place outside Westlake Recording Studio in West Hollywood. At the time of the incident, Usher was inside the studio and was not involved. Per Pitchfork, a representative for Rich the Kid confirmed that the rapper is ok.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department posted a description of the robbery, though the report did not name Rich the Kid or Usher. According to authorities, the victims said three suspects confronted them in the alley behind the studio and “demanded their money and jewelry. The victims were then physically assaulted by the suspects.”
The shooting reportedly occurred as the suspects fled the scene. According to reports obtained by TMZ, which first reported the story, a man seen running away from the studio fired as many as 10 gunshots, though no one was hit. While no one was taken to the hospital, several victims were treated for minor injuries at the scene, including one of Rich the Kid’s bodyguards, who was reportedly beaten with a firearm.
Police are currently investigating the attack and have neither made an arrest, nor identified any suspects.
Rich the Kid released his debut album, The World Is Yours, last March. The rapper is expected to release his follow-up LP, The World Is Yours 2, later this year.
