Ryan Adams enlists John Mayer‘s guitar skills to the singer’s moody new track “Fuck the Rain,” the latest single off Adams’ upcoming Big Colors.
Adams said of “Fuck the Rain” in a tongue-in-cheek statement, “Check out this song it’s cool. Or don’t – we all might die Trump is president. I love you, sincerely Ryan Adams.”
Mayer, who contributes the guitar solo to “Fuck the Rain,” isn’t the only guest on Big Colors: Bob Mould, the Heartbreakers’ Benmont Tench and Don Was also contributed to the album, Adams’ first in a planned 2019 trilogy; Wednesdays is due out next, followed by a third, as-yet-untitled LP.
In the lead-up to Big Colors, Adams has recruited political reporters and famous friends to listen to the album and share their thoughts on Twitter. As Sex and the City actress Kristen Davis previously noted of the new single, “Big Colors is a kaleidoscope of feelings and moods. My favorite song on continuous loop is (expletive) the Rain, love it so much.”
Big Colors is available to pre-order now ahead of its April 19th release. Fans who pre-purchase the LP digitally will receive an instant download of “Fuck the Rain,” while pre-orders of the limited edition vinyl and CD formats will be accompanied by an exclusive 7-inch single titled “Anybody Evil.”
