Tenacious D are hitting the road in July for a seven-city American tour, meaning you’ll once again get to hear favorites like “Fuck Her Gently” and “Double Team” live onstage. It kicks off on July 25th at Red Rocks in Morrison, Colorado for a special show where they’ll be joined by the Colorado Symphony. It wraps up August 6th at the Coca Cola Roxy Theater in Atlanta, Georgia.
Jack Black and Kyle Gass formed the comedy rock duo Tenacious D in 1994 and they’ve kept it going strong across the past quarter century, though they often take breaks to allow for Black’s busy film schedule. They’ve released four albums, including 2018’s Post-Apocalypto, a companion piece to their animated YouTube series Tenacious D in Post-Apocalypto.
Their 2018 tour featured one set packed with tunes from Post-Apocalypto and a second one where they played old favorites like “Jesus Ranch,” “Dio” and “Tribute.” Their future plans are unclear at the moment, though they have indicated a desire to create a sequel to their 2006 movie Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny despite it’s poor performance at the box office. In the meantime, Jack Black is creating a sequel to 2017’s surprise smash hit Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
