This Is How Frank Iero Came Up With The Name Future Violents

It’s genuinely not what you’re expecting.

Frank Iero is now on the third iteration of his band – this is the era of Frank Iero And The Future Violents. And he’s inside the Waterparks issue of Rock Sound, sharing all the details of their new album and the circumstances which lead up to it – pick up your copy worldwide from SHOP.ROCKSOUND.TV.

But where did the name come from? What does Future Violents even mean? It turns out that inspiration struck Frank on the plane, en route to his fated Australian trip where he and his bandmates ended up in a serious condition in hospital, following a bus accident.

Inside the current issue of Rock Sound, Frank shared “A steward came over, and said, ‘Oh you guys look like you’re in a band, what’s the name?’ and I said ‘Frank Iero and The Patience’. He misheard and said, ‘What’s the Future Violents?'”

He continued “I [just] said…that’s an amazing name! I wrote it down thinking maybe that’s a song title or something down the line, but I started to think about that collection of words and what that meant to me, and when writing this record I started to think about life, and how life was for me… how the accident was this very abrupt and violent act and how life can be a precious thing.”

And the rest is history! He ended up sitting on the Frank Iero And The Future Violents moniker for over two years!
