Taylor Bennett pulled out a slew of rockstar tricks while performing his new single, “Streaming Services,” on The Late Show Monday.
The new track finds Bennett taking stock of the music industry and his place in it as an independent artist. On The Late Show, the young singer-rapper breezed through “Streaming Services” as his backing band crafted a bombastic beat underscored by Zxxk’s scorching guitar and MeloMakesMusic’s backing vocals. By the end of the performance, Bennett was bouncing on the stage, shirtless, belting the song’s wily hook, “Does it really make you feel like a rockstar/ When every single streaming record hits the top charts?”
Bennett released “Streaming Services” last week, posting the track on SoundCloud with the message, “I created ‘Streaming Services’ to educate the world on independent artist struggles to navigate through an industry built on their own creativity. Years later still having little to no understanding of how to distribute and collect funds from our own product.”
The track marks Bennett’s first song of 2019 and follows his 2018 EP, Be Yourself.
