Without presidential candidates on the ballot, Election Day might have slipped past some voters’ attention, but residents of Grand County still have time for their voices to be heard on a number of local issues.
Drop boxes are available 24 hours at each of Grand County’s five polling locations until polls close at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Ballots were mailed to all registered voters in October, but for those who lost or did not receive a ballot in the mail, in-person voting is available at the Grand County Administration Building in Hot Sulphur Springs.
According to Grand County Clerk and Recorder Sarah Rosene, just over 3,000 ballots have been collected so far with roughly 11,000 sent out.
On this year’s ballot, voters will be asked two state questions — Prop CC and Prop DD — which deal with the state’s Taxpayer’s Bill of Rights.
Prop CC allows the state to keep extra revenue collected in taxes that TABOR currently limits, and Prop DD asks for a new tax for sports betting to support water issues.
Locally, Grand County asked voters to decide on a sales tax increase for a new jail and residents in the East Grand and Grand Lake fire districts will vote on separate revenue questions.
