Barbara was born March 17, 1934 in Kiel, Germany to Anton and Anni Suchy. She was raised in Germany during a turbulent time of World War ll. When the war was over, she continued to live in Germany for a short time, but then moved to Chicago, Illinois with her uncle and aunt, Werner and Teresa Kruetzfeldt. It was during this time that she met her lifelong love and husband, Hilar Henz. They were married on September 28th, 1963 and remained happily married for 55 years. Barbara and Hilar had three sons.
In 1975, the Henz Family moved to Winter Park, Colorado to open their family restaurant, “Chalet Lucerne.” Over the many years that it was open, Barbara and her family made many friends. The Henz family were faithful members of “Our Lady of Snow, Catholic Church” in Granby, Colorado. It was at this church that Barbara was an active volunteer and served the church and her community in multiple ways. Barbara and Hilar influenced many lives for the better, and they are still remembered today for their kindness and wisdom. In 1996, they sold their restaurant to enjoy a happy retirement in Tabernash, Colorado. In 2015, Barbara and Hilar moved to Windcrest Retirement Community in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. It was here that Barbara was called home.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Hilar, as well as her three sons, Mark (Heather), Ralph and Gregory (Christine); 2 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
