Blowing snow makes travel hazardous across Grand County

Heavy and blowing snow Friday morning is making travel difficult in Grand County. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of Grand County until 5 p.m. Friday.

While total snow accumulation are expected to range from 3-6 inches, snowfall will be heavy and fast through at least mid afternoon.

Forecasters predict snow showers and blowing snow to linger into the evening with strong gusty winds increasing in the afternoon to gusts of 50-60 mph.

Drivers should plan on hazardous travel conditions as the holiday weekend begins with widespread blowing snow reducing visibility. Get the latest road conditions by calling 511 or going to COTrip.org.

OpenSnow.com meteorologist Joel Gratz predicts 4-8 inches from the snowstorm at Winter Park Resort, with the storm dropping 1-3 inches of snow per hour.

The rest of the weekend looks to be mostly dry and sunny for the county.
