Breaking: 2 critically injured in rollover crash on Red Dirt Hill

A crash on Red Dort Hill Wednesday resulted in two people in critical condition

A two-vehicle crash on Highway 40 near Granby late Wednesday morning has resulted in serious injuries to at least two individuals.

Emergency crews responded at around 11:30 a.m. to Highway 40 just north of the entrance to YMCA of the Rockies-Snow Mountain Ranch after a large truck and Ford sedan crashed on the east side of the highway.

The front of the sedan was crushed and the truck came to rest on its side.

A female in the sedan was extricated from the vehicle by fire crews. Her condition was said to be extremely critical, according to the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, who responded to the scene. She was transported to Middle Park Health in Granby.

A man, who was also in the sedan, was immediately transported via ambulance to Middle Park Health-Granby. His condition was also considered extremely serious, according to officials at the scene.

A third vehicle was involved but experienced no damage or injuries.

East Grand and Grand Fire departments responded to the scene, along with Colorado State Patrol.

Traffic on Highway 40 at Red Dirt Hill has been alternating lanes as crews responded to the scene.
