Fraser’s little league hockey team ended its season on a high note when the Fraser Valley Eagles Peewee team took home second place in the Arvada Winter Festival tournament where 11 teams from around the region competed.

On Valentine’s Day, the Eagles started the tournament off strong with a win against the Lakewood Lakers before taking on Aspen and Vail.

Though the team lost to the Omaha team in the last game of the round, the Eagles scored enough points to head to the semi-finals on Feb. 17.

A hard fought game against the Valencia Flyers, California, in the semi-finals resulted in the Eagles winning 5-1 and moving on to the last game against Omaha.

Throughout the finals, the Eagles trailed Omaha and though they were able to get some points on the scoreboard for a tight game, they couldn’t overcome Omaha’s early lead. They fell 3-2.

Despite that, Matt Sullivan, head coach of the Eagles, was happy with the team’s efforts during the tournament.

“It was a great team effort and every player gave it their all,” Sullivan said. “The kids have a lot to be proud of and get a nice banner to hang at the rink.”

The Eagles finished their regular season in second place and will compete in the Divisional Playoff tournament this weekend.
