Grand County Historical Association has launched an October membership drive. The association is offering a $5 discount to new members as part of an initiative to boost membership.

According to a release from the association, this is its 45th year as a group that has worked to preserve Grand County history through four museums, archive preservation and educational programs for children and adults.

The association said the museums see 4,000 visitors a year and offer free admission to all Grand County students.

The association receives 32% of its funding from events, 17% from grants, 17% from admissions and gift shop sales, 13% from donations, 12% from investments and 9% from memberships, according to the release.

With the October discount, membership costs $30 and includes admission to all museums, educational programming and events, quarterly newsletters and discounted admission to fundraising events.

To become a member of the historical association, go to http://www.grandcountyhistory.com or stop by one of the four museums.
