In the spotlight | Mountain Life Fitness has a workout program for everyone

At Mountain Life Fitness, exercise is for everybody. No age, skill level or disability will prevent members from getting healthy with the help of a knowledgeable and compassionate staff.

Those personal connections are just one of the reasons the gym was named best fitness center in the county.

“We want people to feel better when they leave here than when they walked in,” said owner Jackie Wright.

Though the gym is small by industry standards, it has all the same features as a metropolitan fitness center, just at a smaller scale, Wright said.

The floor is stocked with the latest and greatest fitness machines, as well as gym staples like treadmills and stationary bikes. The fitness center also offers 30 different small-group classes, personal training and nutrition assistance.

“This is a coaching business, it is personal,” Wright said. “It allows us a lot of connection and we really get to know each of those people, their limitations and goals, and then we’re able to address it even in a group.”

Beyond traditional clients, Wright works with the hospital to help patients going through physical therapy heal and gain strength. The gym also offers targeted programs, such as ski and bicycle season preparation classes, and health workshops.

“When you walk in the door for a weight-training circuit, you know exactly what you’re going to get and because it changes every week, it never gets old,” Wright said. “We get the best progress through variation.”

Aside from the fitness floor, members have a host of amenities to enjoy at the gym, including massage therapy, a juice bar, retail options, locker rooms, towel service and a kids area.

Even the membership options are diverse to ensure that there’s a package that works for everyone.

In every aspect of her fitness center, Wright tries to be inclusive and accommodating so that more people come to enjoy working out.

“There are a lot of programs out there that exclude people just because there’s no way they’re going to be able to keep up,” she said. “But I’m not someone who believes in exclusion nor in pushing people so hard that there’s no coming back from it.”
