In Memory and with Love: Jerry Lynn (Pfrank) Tomlinson, age 72, passed away peacefully with her family present on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at her home in Hughesville, Maryland. She was born on May 19, 1946 in Terre Haute, Indiana.
She was born to and preceded in death by her father Robert Theodore Pfrank and mother Peg Pfrank. She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Tommy Tomlinson, daughter Jill (and Daniel) Phillips, granddaughters Ivy and Lily Phillips, sister Pat LaMaster, brother Stephen Pfrank, and many other family and friends.
After graduation from Indiana State University, Jerry went west and taught in Colorado for three years. She moved to Guam where she was an avid scuba diver and teacher for two years. Tom and Jerry were married in 1973 in Terre Haute, Indiana, and lived and taught on Guam for two more years. In 1975, Tom and Jerry settled in the suburbs of Denver where they welcomed daughter Jill in 1982. After retiring in her forties, she worked at Winter Park Resort for many years as a travel agent and ski lift operator. Jerry returned to teaching at Granby Elementary before retiring again after 30 years of teaching. After her daughter went off to college, Jerry and Tom returned to teaching for a short time at a school in Kuwait. Upon returning to Colorado Jerry took Jill’s job at Fraser Drug Store, sold T-shirts at Trail’s End Mercantile, and worked at Ace Hardware in Granby.
In 2013, Tom and Jerry relocated to Maryland to be close to their daughter, Jill and granddaughter, Ivy, whom she looked after and drove to preschool often. Later, after Lily joined the family in 2015, she watched the girls every day until her illness prevented it.
Jerry was an avid traveler; summers were spent taking road trips across the United States and various other corners of the globe. Jerry loved gardening and spending time outside.
In keeping with her wishes, Jerry will be returned to her beloved Colorado this summer. No formal services will be held. We all know how much Jerry loved gardening, so all who wish to honor her life are invited to (literally) stop and smell the flowers this spring. Cards and condolences may be sent to Tommy Tomlinson at 5767 Goode Road, Hughesville, MD 20637.
