Following the closure of Kremmling’s only gym earlier this year, the town’s residents finally have a replacement option thanks to the opening of Middle Park Health’s Kremmling Wellness Center, which combines a public fitness center and the hospital’s physical therapy services under one roof.
Tiffany Freitag, director of community relations for Middle Park Health, said the hospital was keen to fill the gym gap in Kremmling because it aligns with their mission to support the physical, emotional and spiritual health of the community.
“We saw the need,” she said. “It’s a community service, mainly. It fits very well within our mission of community wellness.”
With more than double the space of Kremmling’s previous gym facility, the Kremmling Wellness Center offers a much wider selection of workout equipment.
The new wellness center features a weight room with free weights, a cardio room with treadmills, pelotons, ellipticals and more, as well as a community room for group fitness classes in the future.
“People are very excited to have a space to workout again and they’re very pleased with the layout of the gym and the equipment that we’re offering,” Freitag said.
Another perk of opening up a facility in Kremmling is that while Middle Park Health undergoes major changes and upgrades at the Kremmling campus hospital, administrators and staff can take advantage of the extra space.
Middle Park Health has already permanently moved its physical therapy services to the wellness center to allow the department to expand.
“It’s a larger space than what they had at the hospital, it’s much more efficient and it does provide private treatment rooms, which is something the space at the hospital campus didn’t allow for,” Freitag said.
A grand opening celebration for the Kremmling Wellness Center is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 8 to allow guests to explore the new space, speak with the physical therapy team and enjoy food and drinks. At the same time, the wellness center will be hosting a community safety fair and a blood drive, which it hopes to make annual.
