Letter: Thanks for supporting our veterans

I wanted to say thank you to all the citizens of Grand County for their support of our Veterans.

As the article in the Sky-Hi News’ Nov. 13 paper showcased: the veterans within Grand County are blessed with a wonderfully supportive network of citizens and organizations that truly “thank them for their service” in actions as well as words.

I wanted to specifically thank the individual people and organizations that provided the donations and grants that funded the purchase of the veterans’ grave markers for all of the veterans in our county cemeteries. The individual donations from as small as 25 cents to $250 dollars and raised $1,250 total.

Two key community organizations gave generous grants. The Fraser Valley Lions Club donated $1,000 and the Grand Lake Rotary Club gave $750, which brought the total donations to $3,000.

The remainder of the funds needed for the project came from American Legion Post 88 itself. All veterans graves throughout the county will have markers place in time for Memorial Day next year.

So again on behalf of all the Grand County Veterans, their families, and friends. Thank you for remembering their service and sacrifice.

Gerald Boyd, Commander American Legion Post 88
