My excitement over the Access Grand program has remained intact. To summarize, GCLD patrons can go to gcld.org/accessgrand, click on Access Grand Request Page, see what passes are available within 30 days’ time, and request a pass with their GCLD library card. Passes vary as to how many people can attend the venue free of charge, from admitting one patron (such as rec centers and Denver Botanic Gardens) to up to 7 patrons (like the Denver Museum of Nature and Science). The request page explains all of this, as well as directing you to websites for the company with a “Site” button and showing you how to get to the location when you click on “Map.”
Grand Concerts, Devil’s Thumbs Nordic Center, and Grand Lake Nordic Center are terrific organizations that worked with GCLD’s mission to link people to boundless opportunities. Now that the snow should have melted and the concert series is over, we are working with other companies to join Access Grand.
Two returning summer venues will be Grand Lake’s Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre and Winter Park Adventure Quest, located at the Fraser Valley Sports Complex. This year, only one pass can be reserved at a time. If you want to go with someone to see Sister Act, Disaster, Sweeney Todd or Patsy Cline or go for a high-adrenaline 60-90-minute experience at up to 25 feet above ground — think of the Access Grand pass as a 2 for 1 coupon, splitting the normal cost of one ticket. To complete your reservation for RMRT, you will need to call to the theater to check availability for the desired MID-WEEK show.
We have a couple more negotiations in the works for next month. I know they will both be well received!
Since January of 2019, 264 passes have been issued. This means over 670 patrons have been able to visit the likes of the Devil’s Thumb Nordic Center, Fraser Valley Rec, Grand Concerts, Grand County Historical Association Museums, Grand Lake Area Historical Society, Grand Lake Nordic Center, the Butterfly Pavilion, Denver Art Museum, Denver Botanic Gardens, Denver Fire fighters Museum, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, History Colorado Center, Molly Brown House Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, and Silverthorne Recreation Center.
GCLD pays for many of the passes, so we have worked with managers and owners to negotiate donated or discounted tickets to add these opportunities to Access Grand. In exchange, GCLD markets this working relationship to our community through outreach presentations, articles, newsletters, library LCD screens, GCLD’s website, and brochures. If you have a business or know of someone whose business would benefit from allowing GCLD patrons to try out what is offered, contact Tallie Gray, Director of Library Resources by calling (970) 887-9411 x100 or e-mailing tgray@gcld.org.
Please thank anyone associated with the Access Grand passes for helping our community have healthy, fun, cultural, and educational opportunities. We sure appreciate them and want to continue forging strong relationships for the benefit of our patrons.
