Obituary: Ken Katchen

Kenneth Katchen

Ken Katchen was born October 18, 1950 in Denver, Colorado. He died January 1, 2020. Ken was the son of Samuel Katchen and Gertrude Levin. He attended school in Denver and spent most of his life here. During the Viet Nam War, he was drafted and located in Frankfurt, Germany. He began working as an electrician but found his calling in the travel/airline industry. He worked for American Airlines and ended his career as the Vice President of Sales for Worldwide Flight Services. He was scheduled to retire at the end of January and planned on spending time with his partner, Kathy McMurray Earnst, traveling and sharing the things he loved: long walks, fishing, music, family and friends. Ken was the fourth of five children: Harris (MaryLou) Katchen, Carole Katchen, Linda Katchen and the late Mark Katchen. He had two daughters: Megan Akiyama and Rebecca Katchen and grandchildren: Hailey, Reaghan, Taryn, Aurelia and Blake. He was greatly loved by his family and was an important person in everyone’s life. Ken is survived by many friends and coworkers who will miss his humor, compassion and competence. A celebration of Ken’s life will be held at Temple Micah, Saturday, February 15 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that people donate to the UC Health Foundation, Karen Davis, 2400 S. Peoria St., Suite 100, Aurora, Colorado 80014. Identify that the donation is for the Liver Transplant Fund in honor of Ken Katchen. Ken received a liver transplant which allowed him to enjoy more than 25 additional years, for which we are all very gratefu
