John Muir, famed naturalist and Father of the National Parks, once said, “between every two pines is a doorway to a new world.”

The spirit embodied in that quote, of adventure within and appreciation for the natural world, is something husband and wife team Chris and Hanna Olivier are hoping to foster at their new Granby store, Two Pines Supply.

“We call it a multisport outdoor store,” Chris Olivier said from inside his new shop in downtown Granby. “We rent, sell and service anything you need for the outdoors. We have a seasonal section that will primarily be bikes in the summer and backcountry skiing and snowshoeing in winter. We also carry camping gear, hiking and climbing equipment; generally everything you need for the outdoors.”

Hanna Olivier echoed his sentiments.

“We facilitate your outdoor adventure,” she said.

Two Pines Supply is set for a soft opening this weekend with a formal grand opening event planned for early June. The Oliviers, both Colorado natives who have lived in Grand County for nearly three years, hope their shop will become more than just a popular outdoor equipment store though.

They hope it will become something of an informal meeting space for the county’s expansive community of mountain bikers, backcountry skiers, hikers, climbers and all those whose lives are largely defined by their love of the wild. At the same time though the Oliviers are emphasizing the importance of creating a shop that is inviting to novices and beginners, where those looking to try out new sports can find a friendly source of knowledge.

“Anyone who asks question and wants to learn, that is what we are here for,” Chris said. “We want to be as involved with the community as we can be.”

To help foster the unique atmosphere they are looking to create the Oliviers are planning to use part of the space within their recently remodeled building to host clinics, seminars and instructional classes. Chris Olivier noted he is hoping to connect with the Colorado Avalanche Information Center for avalanche awareness clinics at the start of ski season.

“We would love to have any community groups that want to utilize the space to come in,” he said.

Located in the heart of downtown Granby, a short distance east of Lion Head Coffee, Two Pines Supply will offer an extensive range of outdoor products. The selection will include tents, camping stoves, sleeping bags, mountain bikes, water filters, quickdraws, climbing nuts and much, much more. Two Pines Supply will offer patrons numerous rental options from ski gear and e-bikes to sleeping bags and tent poles. They will carry the full line of Black Diamond products and will be offering Orbea bikes, which Chris Olivier called “hands down the best bang for your buck” for a full suspension bike.

Both of the Oliviers come with an extensive background in maintenance and repair work and can handle all of your servicing and tuning needs.

“We service bikes, skis, snowboards and tents,” Chris Olivier said. “We will service any bikes and even things like broken tent poles. We have patches for apparel. We also have a good selection of stuff so you can DIY it if you want.”
