Philanthropic Education Organization models Saturday fundraiser after ‘Antiques Roadshow’

An antiques roadshow of sorts will be rolling through Grand County on Saturday in support of women’s scholarships.

The Philanthropic Education Organization, or PEO, is hosting a fundraising luncheon with antiques expert Bob Scott, who will talk abut the history and background of various items brought to him by Grand County residents.

The luncheon is $25 and the PEO is asking for a $20 donation for every item brought to Scott. The luncheon will go from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Church of the Eternal Hills in Tabernash.

Organizer Debbie Wehmeyer said this is the PEO’s second year putting on the luncheon, and last year it raised $4,000 for scholarships that exclusively go to women in Grand County. Many of the scholarships run multiple years as the women pursue their educations, Wehmeyer added.

She expects about 110-120 people to attend the luncheon. Because seating is limited, she’s also asking that people RSVP by emailing her at kdwehmeyer@msn.com.

Also, Wehmeyer said that people can expect to see neatly decorated tables at the event, as each table’s host or hostess will be competing for a special bottle of wine awarded to the best decorated table.

Anyone who would like to support the PEO’s scholarships can make checks payable to:
