Police blotter, Sept. 30-Oct. 6

Sept. 30

7:51 p.m. — A cleaning crew discovered food on a counter, music playing and a vehicle in the driveway of a Grand Lake home when the homeowner was supposed to be in Europe. With the homeowner’s permission, authorities entered the residence and found nothing out of the ordinary.

8:47 p.m. — Police were called to an inn in Granby when someone heard yelling and loud noises coming from one of the rooms. Upon contacting the individual inside, authorities found he had gotten into an argument with his wife, who was out of state, over the phone.

7:29 p.m. — An overdue party was reported in Grand County. The individual was found not too long afterward in Denver.

Oct. 1

9:04 p.m. — A caller saw flashlights in the living room of a Grand Lake home and didn’t believe anyone was supposed to be there. The sheriff’s office checked out the home and found everything secure.

Oct. 3

10:33 p.m. — There was smoke coming from the basement of a Grand Lake home, possibly caused by a furnace recently being turned on.

Oct. 5

12:03 p.m. — A caller told dispatchers of a dangerous situation with cattle near US Highway 40 by Granby. The caller was attempting to get in front of them but needed help corralling the cows away from the highway.

Oct. 6

8:49 a.m. — A hunter reported seeing a column of smoke in Predator Canyon. The Fort Collins Fire Dispatch was notified, and the smoke was found to be coming from a campfire.

2:44 p.m. — Someone phoned in a complaint about underage drivers speeding in off-highway vehicles at a Granby neighborhood.

2:47 p.m. — Grand County Search and Rescue was called after man was hurt in a dirt bike accident by Grand Lake. The man was with paramedics and everyone was out of the field an hour later.

These are just a small number of the calls fielded by Grand County’s dispatchers, first-responders and law enforcement agencies. The police blotter was put together by the Sky-Hi News in conjunction with the Grand County Sheriff’s Office. It does not include any reports about alleged sexual assaults, child abuse, DUIs or domestic violence.
