Enjoying the beauty that is Rocky Mountain National Park can be awe-inducing and inspire its viewers, which is exactly what happened to Gigi Love, a Utah folk musician, who wrote an album of songs dedicated to the country’s national parks.
Love will be performing her music live at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center to celebrate the park’s natural beauty. The event is free and open to the public.
Between 2015 and 2017, Love traveled to nearly two dozen national parks, writing songs about each one’s landscapes, history and people, according to Kyle Patterson, a spokesperson for Rocky.
Her song on Rocky highlights the “whispering pines” on Trail Ridge Road and the bugling elk that fill its meadows.
Beginning in 2017, Love partnered with the National Parks Service to become its first-ever Trails and Rails Troubadour, meaning she performs at the national parks and on Amtrak trains, such as the Coast Starlight and Sunset Limited.
Love’s album, titled “National Parks Centennial Songs,” is dedicated to the park founders, future generations, people who don’t have easy access to nature and the planet Earth. Through the collection of songs, she hopes to promote stewardship of the land and the protection of natural spaces.
