Rocky Mountain National Park plans Saturday checkpoint

Rocky Mountain National Park, Grand Lake entrance.

Rangers at Rocky Mountain National Park will be increasing patrols and conducting a safety checkpoint on Saturday as they look for traffic and safety violations and impaired drivers.

A news release notes that Rocky has more than 100 miles of roads, and the park’s unique driving conditions can be challenging with a high traffic volume, rapidly changing weather conditions and wildlife.

The checkpoints are being conducted in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies. Visitors are also being reminded that federal law requires vehicle passengers wear seatbelts on all park roads.
