‘Rumor’ leads East Grand schools to close Thursday

Students will get an early break with the district deciding to close all East Grand schools on Thursday, Dec. 19.

The decision was made after Middle Park High School and district administrators became aware of a new rumor following an alleged threat of school violence at the high school last week, according to a district news release.

In the release, the district emphasized that no other schools were included in the alleged threat or in the new rumor.

“East Grand School District takes a very serious approach to any rumors of threats made to our school community and took immediate action,” the release says. “We are working closely with Granby Police Department and the FBI and are awaiting further information.”

The district added that even though the rumor was unsubstantiated, officials determined that the safest course of action would be to close the schools on Thursday and postpone all activities.
