The Shed Fire was reported as 80% contained in a Facebook post by Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office on Monday.
The lightning-caused fire 24 miles west of Meeker was noted as holding at 217 acres after burning since July 18.
Area fire personnel on the blaze near Greasewood Gulch included Meeker Fire & Rescue and Bureau of Land Management, as well as a Type 2 Initial Attack Crew.
Though the sheriff’s office social media post said there was minimal growth, it warned that weather in the coming days could impact the fire, including lightning and high winds.
“Thunderstorm coverage will increase throughout mid-week as additional moisture becomes available,” the post stated. “Lightning and gusty winds will be the main threats with storms early in the week. Heavy rainfall rates will become more of a threat by Wednesday.”
