Parts of Grand County could receive up to nine inches of snow in just under 24 hours starting Sunday evening, according to a winter weather advisory.
The National Weather Service issued an advisory predicting gusty winds and heavy snow will begin around 6 p.m. Sunday and continue through Monday evening.
Rabbit Ears Pass is expected to get hit the hardest with the advisory calling for five to nine inches of snow and winds up to 50 mph.
Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain National Park, Berthoud Pass and Winter Park are expected to get three to seven inches of snow and winds from 60 – 70 mph.
The combination of wind and snow will likely impact travel and reduce visibility. The NWS advisory warns of slippery road conditions during the snowstorm.
On Saturday night, Berthoud Pass saw wind gusts as high as 84 mph, the highest in the state during the 12 hour period monitored, the NWS reported.
Right now, both Winter Park and Granby Ranch are both reporting above average snowpack for the season.
Tuesday is expected to be dry, but still windy, and snow is predicted to return on Wednesday potentially continuing through the weekend.
